You may have heard about or seen adverts for Invisalign but what is it and how can it help your teeth? Here at CDIC, Invisalign has become one of the most popular treatments, find out more below.

Invisalign is an alternative to traditional wired braces for anybody who wants to try and straighten or realign their teeth. Whist they do the same job as wired braces they are actually removable, clear braces.

Being clear means that they are a lot less obvious than the traditional methods and regularly go unnoticed when patients are wearing them. They also have the added benefit of being removable, so during meals, social occasions or just for comfort, they can be removed as and when required.

At the initial consultation meeting, every patient will have their teeth scanned and a 3D image of them created. From the 3D scan, a bespoke set of clear braces or ‘trays’ are created and will be specific to each patient. Every couple of weeks patients will switch to new trays, based on the 3D modelling, which will keep adjusting as with their new teeth alignment.

Due to the retainers being removable, during the Invisalign period patients can easily clean their teeth and stick to their regular oral hygiene routine. This removes the fear of teeth staining or suffering in some way from restrictions on how well they can be cleaned while wearing wired braces.

Depending on the complexity of the realignment, a full treatment could take as little as 6 months. However, the time scales will depend on the scope of the realignment. The bigger the realignment the longer the process will take. That being said, the majority of patients will start to see improvements after only a few weeks.

All Invisalign treatments come with regular check-ups to ensure the retainers are working as expected and to answer any questions that may arise during the Invisalign treatment.

Almost anybody can have Invisalign treatment and many find it the perfect solution for getting the smile that they have always wanted.
